HOW ONLINE DYSLEXIA TUTORING WORKS
CONVENIENCE AND EASE
Online tutoring allows Ms. Crystal to sit with you and your child in the comfort of your home (or even during an outing) via your computer or tablet and teach evidence based lessons.
Using Zoom and Whizzimo, your student will get all the benefits of one-on-one tutoring online.
Up-to-date computer, Apple or PC, or Tablet (no phones please) with built-in camera and microphone
High Speed Internet, at least 1.5 Mbps upload and download speed. Check your computer's speed at:
Sufficient memory to ensure enhanced quality of dyslexia tutoring
Headphones may be helpful for students with ADD or Audio Processing Disorder.
A pen tablet is useful for some students who require dyslexia help or for students who have trouble with a keyboard.
PREPARING FOR A LESSON
Create a quiet, distraction-free area for the online tutoring sessions.
Ensure that others in the home are not downloading or uploading during sessions—this includes gaming, movies, downloading documents, etc. Such activity can affect connection quality.
Use of an Ethernet cord rather than WiFi provides the best dyslexia tutoring experience.
Parents will communicate with Ms. Crystal for an initial interview, and contact her whenever concerns or questions arise.
A parent must be accessible for technical problems that may occur.
Ms. Crystal offers a monthly progress update in order to keep parents aware of the individualized plan for their child. This update is available at the beginning or end of a scheduled lesson and a written report can also be made available of the student's progress.
